This week has been a “champion” week for me! I have seriously accomplished so much and am super proud.
First of all, I have figured out the calorie thing. Apparently at this point 1400-1500 is too much for me. This week, thanks to the calculations of My Fitness Pal, I’ve cut down to netting 1180 calories per day. Keep in mind that I actually EAT more than 1180 calories per day. I’m eating closer to 1400-1500 a day…but my daily runs are burning between 350-500 calories each, so I’m netting at 1180 or below daily. And the weight is just FALLING off! I’ve lost SIX lbs this week. Now, my clothes aren’t fitting any differently…but I’m hoping that changes soon. I have 4 pants sizes to lose still, so not a SUPER win but hey, baby steps.
Another WIN for me this week was filling my diet with WHOLE, clean foods. For lunches I’ve been eating spinach wraps with brown rice, blackbeans, corn, salsa, and a little bit of sour cream. I feel FULL afterward and they taste awesome. Dinners are a little more difficult but usually includes some type of grilled chicken and veggies. We throw rice in with dinner too, usually, but this week I’m going to try to use some quinoa and see how I like that.
This brings me to the “substance” of my post. I hear so many people talk about how all their kids want to eat is garbage. Kids that eat garbage eat it because it’s an option given to them. My kid did it. Mommy’s eating a hot dog for lunch? Hot dogs and french fries it is! But this week..mommy was eating black beans and brown rice for lunch. One day Noah ate an ENTIRE BOWL of black beans for lunch because he saw that mommy was eating it and mommy thought it was yummy. Every day during lunch I have to ration him out a bowl of black beans to eat with some fruit and cheese. He has also started drinking water like nobody’s business. Mommy used to have a soda with lunch every day and Noah would steal sips of mommy’s “sosa.” He doesn’t even remember that soda exists anymore. I guess I’m just super proud to see my positive healthy lifestyle changes being passed down to him and to know that he really IS watching and mimicking my habits. I’m happy that the habits I’m picking up are good ones and I’m glad that I’m making these changes while my kids are young enough that it can just be “the way things are” for them.
…And my FINAL, and most awesome WIN of the week..I ran 20 miles! From Sunday-Sunday I ran 6 days, 3-4 miles each day. I’m pretty proud!
